Nenad (“Neno”) Medvidović is a professor and chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC). Previously, he has served as his department’s vice-chair for tenure affairs and associate chair for Ph.D. Affairs. Neno recently completed a five-year term as editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, his field’s leading journal. He has served as chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (SIGSOFT). Additionally, he has served as chair of the steering committees for the two premier conferences in his field: the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) and the Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engineering (FSE). Neno has chaired a number of technical program committees, including ICSE 2011. He has been the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, the Okawa Foundation Research Grant, the IBM Real-Time Innovation Award, the USC Mellon Mentoring Award, the OCEC Distinguished Engineering Merit Award, and the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Service Award. Several of his papers have been recognized with Most Influential Paper (“test of time”), “Best Paper,” and “Most Cited Paper” awards. Neno is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and an IEEE Fellow. More important than these accolades are Neno’s students, several of whom have gone on to build impressive careers of their own (including at ICS). And most important of all, Neno is a proud dad of two USC grads and overall amazing human beings.
