Dan DeLeeuw

B.S. 1991

Dan DeLeeuw received his degree from UCI’s school of Information and Computer Sciences in 1991.  His passion for movies inspired him to seek out a career in the Visual Effects Industry.  After graduation, he started working at Dream Quest Images in Simi Valley, California as a combination programmer and generalist.  His first duties were to design and code an image compositing program using X11 on a Sun Workstation housing a Vitec Imaging board.

Learning the VFX craft from the bottom up, he became the Digital Supervisor on the Disney films: Crimson Tide, The Rock, and Reign of Fire.  He then branched into character animation at Rhythm and Hues where he VFX Supervised Night at the Museum which was recognized at the Academy VFX Bakeoff.

Dan was honored with three Academy Award nominations for his work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame; as well as, two BAFTA nominations for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.  His love for creating effects and making magic happen continues…
